Overview
The Executive Specialist supports the Regional Director in implementing strategic priorities, coordinating activities, and managing information flow to ensure effective leadership and operational coherence within the Regional Office.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow-up on instructions from the Regional Director and support work portfolios.
- Keep the Regional Director informed of global operations and policy issues.
- Contribute to drafting position papers and relevant documents.
- Assist in preparing statements representing UNICEF policies.
- Propose and draft substantive correspondence.
- Support efforts to raise UNICEF's profile within the UN system.
- Manage information flow to the Regional Director, identifying priorities and proposing actions.
- Analyze supporting documentation and summarize key points.
- Ensure appropriate action is taken on matters brought to the Regional Director's attention.
- Confer with section heads to secure timely information.
- Prepare the Regional Director for meetings and missions by drafting talking points and researching information.
- Establish contacts within and outside UNICEF for meeting preparation.
- Accompany the Regional Director to meetings and missions to prepare notes and ensure follow-up.
- Support the Regional Director's relationship with the RMT, including communication and meeting preparation.
Required Experience
A minimum of five years of relevant professional work experience in external relations, public affairs or international development cooperation, preferably within the UN, or in a government institution, NGO. Prior experience of working in coordination, planning, or in an executive office will be an asset.
Qualifications
An advanced university degree is required in International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, or another relevant technical field.
