Overview
The European Commission is seeking a Statistical Assistant to join the EU-SILC micro-data production and dissemination team within Directorate-General Eurostat. The role involves routine production and dissemination of EU-SILC data, quality reports, and variance estimation.
Key Responsibilities
- Routine production of EU-SILC data in the area of poverty, social exclusion, and their dissemination in Eurobase;
- Production of additional data for Statistics Explained, quality reports and variance estimation.
- Inclusion in the EU-SILC production chains of outcomes of the methodological development of (new) indicators on specific topics of political importance in close collaboration with the Indicators Subgroup of the Social Protection Committee.
- Dissemination to researchers and continuous improvement of EU-SILC microdata (User Data base UDB).
- Drafting and maintenance of metadata describing EU-SILC.
- Processing of data requests from external users.
- Continuous improvement of the production and dissemination chains, namely: improvement of timeliness; analysis of the multidimensional dimension as well as trajectories of poverty and social exclusion; integration of information on income, consumption and wealth; development of new indicators.
- Maintaining contacts with policy DGs and in particular DG EMPL on EU SILC indicators development.
- Documentation of all processes and code developed.
- Producing EU-SILC data for a group of approximately 10-12 countries.
- Compiling statistics for quality reports, performing variance estimation using established procedures, and contributing to the development of new indicators and statistical analyses as required.
- Supporting other team activities, particularly in establishing a back-up role within the production team.
Required Experience
Experience with SAS or other statistical software is required.
Qualifications
- a level of post-secondary education attested by a diploma, or
- a level of secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary education , and appropriate professional experience of at least three years .
