Overview

The Programme Management Officer will contribute to building partnerships, promoting best practices in disaster risk reduction, and supporting the implementation of training modules and global strategies.


Key Responsibilities
  • Contributes to building partnerships with experts and stakeholders in disaster risk reduction in North-East Asia.
  • Promotes best practices and contributes to initiatives to build communities of practice across countries in North-East Asia.
  • Ensures the contribution of North East Asia to the collection and capture of good practices and case studies in disaster risk reduction.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of training modules on Sendai Framework implementation and monitoring.
  • Monitors and evaluates the impact of training modules and proposes improvements.
  • Contributes to the implementation of UNDRR’s global strategy for capacity development.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of a capacity building and training programme.
  • Contributes to the work plan of the GETI, ensuring high-quality outputs.
  • Contributes to activities related to work plan, budget and funding.
  • May be requested to manage or guide junior staff and/or recruit and supervise consultants/external service providers.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in programme/project management, capacity development or related area is required.
  • Experience in disaster risk reduction as related to the Sendai Framework is required.
  • Experience in capacity building process and training delivery is desirable.
  • At least one year of relevant experience working with the United Nations or a comparable international organization is desirable.
Qualifications

An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in development, environment, social sciences, economics or related area is required. A first level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
