Overview
This role involves providing expert consultancy services for wildlife management within the aviation sector, focusing on bird hazard studies and risk management plans for airports.
Key Responsibilities
- Review reports of studies related to terrestrial fauna and risk of aircraft collision with birds.
- Consider statistics of bird strikes near airports.
- Review reports on related aircraft accidents/incidents and data on associated measures.
- Give preliminary opinion on the feasibility of developing an effective risk management plan.
- Assess assumed risks of bird strike for new airports against existing airports.
- Recommend further studies and data gathering.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- Minimum ten years’ experience in airport bird hazard studies.
- Minimum ten years’ experience in the preparation of a control programme.
- Extensive experience in the classification of birds as to potential hazards to aircraft operations.
- Extensive experience in environmental management and methods of dispersal.
- Awareness of appropriate ICAO documents.
Qualifications
• First level university degree in ornithology or equivalent training and qualifications.
