Overview
Provides organizational, administrative, and substantive support to the Special Assistant in advising and assisting the UNEP Deputy Executive Director in daily duties. Facilitates programme/project development, implementation, and evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitates programme/project development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Monitors and analyzes programme/project development and implementation.
- Reviews relevant documents and reports, identifies issues, and recommends corrective actions.
- Carries out basic research, collects, analyzes, and presents statistical data.
- Drafts and compiles information communications products.
- Provides substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation.
- Assists senior officials with briefing notes, background papers, and talking points.
- Prepares summaries of articles and drafts correspondence and report sections.
- Participates in survey initiatives, assists with data collection tool design, and analyzes responses.
- Contributes to the preparation of written outputs such as background papers and reports.
- Provides administrative and substantive support to meetings, conferences, and missions.
- Contributes to data collection and analysis, identification of trends, and provides draft insights using data visualization methods.
Required Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in environmental project/programme management, strategic planning, policy implementation or related area is required.
- Experience providing substantive, coordination, or advisory support to senior or high-level officials is required.
- Proven experience in drafting, editing, and presenting high-quality technical, policy, and donor-facing documents is required.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, coordinating, and managing international environmental programmes is required.
- Experience within the United Nations common system or a similar international organization is desirable.
- One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Environmental Sciences, Business Administration, Management, Law, Economics or a related field is required.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
