Overview

Provides organizational, administrative, and substantive support to the Special Assistant in advising and assisting the UNEP Deputy Executive Director in daily duties. Facilitates programme/project development, implementation, and evaluation.


Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitates programme/project development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Monitors and analyzes programme/project development and implementation.
  • Reviews relevant documents and reports, identifies issues, and recommends corrective actions.
  • Carries out basic research, collects, analyzes, and presents statistical data.
  • Drafts and compiles information communications products.
  • Provides substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation.
  • Assists senior officials with briefing notes, background papers, and talking points.
  • Prepares summaries of articles and drafts correspondence and report sections.
  • Participates in survey initiatives, assists with data collection tool design, and analyzes responses.
  • Contributes to the preparation of written outputs such as background papers and reports.
  • Provides administrative and substantive support to meetings, conferences, and missions.
  • Contributes to data collection and analysis, identification of trends, and provides draft insights using data visualization methods.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in environmental project/programme management, strategic planning, policy implementation or related area is required.
  • Experience providing substantive, coordination, or advisory support to senior or high-level officials is required.
  • Proven experience in drafting, editing, and presenting high-quality technical, policy, and donor-facing documents is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, coordinating, and managing international environmental programmes is required.
  • Experience within the United Nations common system or a similar international organization is desirable.
  • One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Qualifications
  • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Environmental Sciences, Business Administration, Management, Law, Economics or a related field is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
