Overview
The General Protection Officer – Case Management plays a key role in ensuring the high-quality implementation of case management activities, in alignment with the broader DRC protection programme in Bangladesh. The officer is responsible for managing individual protection cases and structured PSS.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments of individual protection concerns and respond appropriately by providing Individual Protection Assistance (IPA) and making timely referrals.
- Identify cases requiring urgent intervention and provide direct accompaniment to service points when necessary.
- Provide training, guidance, and ongoing support to field-level protection volunteers.
- Collaborate to develop and implement work plans, set priorities, and participate in case management meetings.
- Ensure assigned targets are met in a timely manner while maintaining a high standard of service quality and ethical compliance.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and confidential case documentation and protection data.
- Contribute to internal and donor reporting by providing relevant information.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders.
- Liaise closely with protection and humanitarian partners to enhance understanding of key protection concerns and promote coordinated responses.
- Collaborate with other DRC programme teams to ensure integrated and holistic service delivery.
- Conduct Individual and Structured PSS sessions as per project requirements.
- Represent the Protection team and DRC in relevant coordination forums, sector meetings, and community-based platforms.
- Ensure full compliance with DRC operational procedures.
- Uphold and promote DRC’s Code of Conduct, protection principles, and core humanitarian standards.
- Perform any other duties or tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Required Experience
- Minimum of two years of experience working directly with vulnerable communities or refugees in a protection case management capacity, preferably in humanitarian or displacement settings.
- Prior experience with an international or local NGO or United Nations agency is required.
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to work in field environments, including in challenging weather and logistical conditions.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience using tools such as Kobo Toolbox, ActivityInfo, or other data collection and reporting platforms.
Qualifications
- Minimum University degree in social sciences, such as Social Work, Anthropology, Psychology, Development Studies, law, or relevant disciplines.
- Master’s degree in relevant discipline is preferable.
