Overview
The Programme Specialist, Women, Peace, and Security will be responsible for planning, implementing, managing, and providing technical support to UN Women's Women, Peace, and Security interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop programme strategies in the area of Women, Peace and Security.
- Manage the implementation and management of the Women, Peace and Security programme.
- Manage technical assistance and capacity development to project/programme partners.
- Manage the monitoring and reporting of the programme/ project.
- Manage the people and financial resources of the Women, Peace and Security programme.
- Build partnerships and support in developing resource mobilization strategies.
- Contribute to inter-agency coordination on Women, Peace and Security.
- Manage advocacy, knowledge building, and communication efforts.
- Perform other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary.
Required Experience
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in programme management, including programme design, programme coordination, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building, is required.
- Experience in working in a gender related area is desirable.
- Experience in setting priorities, budgets, work plans, participating in programme development, and programme writing is required.
- Experience in leading and coaching staff in international settings is required.
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling web-based management systems is required.
- Experience in the use of a modern web-based ERP System, preferably Oracle Cloud, is desirable.
- International experience is desirable.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Political Science, Development, Public Administration, and Gender is required.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- A project/programme management certification (such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP®) would be an added advantage.
