Overview
Refurbishment of the UN-owned fleet of assets and equipment in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Removes, welds, re-installs and aligns body panels, doors, bonnets/hoods, tailgates and related hardware; adjust gaps and ensure correct fit and operation.
- Pounds out or patch dents in sheet metal and other minor body damage; removes rust and cleans the work surface (e.g., grease and dirt) prior to repair and refinishing works.
- Replaces damaged body parts, including bumpers, fenders, hoods, trims, and other components and welds replacement parts into place.
- Masks and protects parts not to be painted or coated; fills cavities and dents with putty to attain a smooth surface; sands and grinds surfaces; mixes paint according to specification; selects and mixes coating liquid to produce the desired color.
- Primes and paints surfaces using a spray gun or brush as appropriate; heats and sprays wax onto products after they are tested for prolonged surface protection
- Removes and refits moldings, seals, badges, lamps and exterior/interior trim pieces; ensures that parts are secured and watertight where applicable.
- Replaces and repairs automotive glass (e.g., windscreens and side/rear windows) and related components, as required; performs basic water leak checks after installation.
- Operates and maintains body shop equipment and tools (e.g., welders, grinders, sanders, dent pullers) in a safe manner; keeps the workspace clean and organized and dispose of waste materials in accordance with applicable procedures.
- Performs post-repair/refinishing inspections and final sign-off checks (e.g., panel fit and alignment, finish quality, trim refit, leaks/overspray) and report non-conformities for corrective action.
- Ensures that all relevant safety procedures are followed when repairing and fitting replacement components and parts.
- Reports all executed services and repairs.
- Assists with the identification of required materials and parts.
- Performs any other related tasks as required.
Required Experience
- At least three (03) years of professional/technical experience in vehicle body repair and refinishing (e.g., dent removal, panel repair/replacement and alignment, surface preparation, painting) is required.
- Experience in the application of guidelines and procedures relative to the safe operation of workshop/bodyshop equipment (e.g., vehicle lifts, welders, grinders, sanders, spray equipment and pneumatic/hydraulic tools) is required.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- A technical or vocational certificate in mechanics or other related fields is desirable.
