Overview
The Social Policy Officer is accountable for providing technical support and assistance in social policy programming and related advocacy, focusing on improving public policies, innovative financing, public investments, and governance for children.
Key Responsibilities
- Supports the collection, analysis and presentation of data on child poverty.
- Provides data-driven analysis for planning and development.
- Analyzes the macroeconomic context and its impact on children.
- Undertakes budget analysis to inform advocacy and technical assistance.
- Supports identification of policy options for domestic financing of social protection.
- Undertakes and builds capacity for monitoring and tracking public expenditure.
- Explores innovative financing approaches to mobilize resources for children.
- Assesses appropriate financing instruments and designs pilots or scaling plans.
- Supports governments and partners to strengthen capacity in innovative financing.
- Collaborates with authorities to improve policies, planning, budgeting, and accountability.
- Strengthens capacity on data collection, analysis, planning, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of social services.
- Supports the use of data and evidence on the situation of children.
- Establishes partnerships with government, donors, NGOs, civil society, and the private sector.
- Promotes awareness and builds capacity of partners.
- Helps manage and coordinate technical support around social policy.
- Supports effective and efficient planning, management, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of the country programme.
Required Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience.
Qualifications
A university degree in one of the following fields is required: Economics, Finance, Social Sciences, or another relevant technical field.
