Overview

Develop and ensure the quality of various communication materials, including human-interest stories, video scripts, speeches, briefs, media materials, op-eds, key messages, and social media copy for senior leadership.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and ensure the quality of various communication materials.
  • Collaborate with members of the communication team as well as internal stakeholders to support the development, refinement, and quality assurance of a wide range of communication materials.
  • Occasionally, support with simple graphic design materials, and video editing (post-production).
  • Work closely with digital engagement and content production staff to provide writing support and story-telling advice, strengthening content quality and ensuring alignment with UNICEF’s writing standards and brand guidelines.
Required Experience
  • 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in writing and editing communication materials with the target audience in mind, including advocacy publications, human interest stories, organizational thought-leadership articles, media outreach materials, policy briefs, etc.
  • Experience in a similar assignment with the development sector, in the international context, is a must.
  • Experience in producing excellent and compelling communication materials with UNICEF or the UN is a plus.
  • Flawless copy and outstanding writing skills, and proven experience in editing English documents for grammatical accuracy, factual accuracy, engaging flow, and coherence.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of UNICEF’s writing styles and publication requirements, is a plus.
  • Experience in developing various formats of contents, such as web article, media Op-Eds, video scripts, photo captions, social media copy, etc.
  • Experience in audience mapping/analysis and developing content strategy for various target audiences is a requirement.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks without compromising quality.
  • Video editing /multimedia post-production experience is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including flexibility and adaptability, the ability to take feedback, team spirit, and positive working relationships.
Qualifications

Master's degree in a relevant field, such as journalism, communications, international relations, political science, international development, or another related technical field.
