Overview
This internship supports the planning, research, production, and dissemination of communication and multimedia materials across the Regional Seas Programme to enhance visibility and knowledge sharing.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and produce communication materials in various formats including newsletters, website articles, social media content, briefs, talking points, speeches, and human-interest stories.
- Develop and edit multimedia content such as photos, videos, infographics, and presentations.
- Support the planning and delivery of communication campaigns and visibility efforts for key events.
- Share communication products through digital platforms, media outlets, and partner networks.
- Update and maintain communication platforms by uploading news, events, and publications, and keeping the content and editorial plan up to date.
- Perform other duties to support the work of the Branch as requested.
Required Experience
No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Program. Applicants' training, education, advanced coursework, or skills should benefit the United Nations during their internship. Applicants should explain how they meet this criterion with examples of their experience in communication, digital content, or multimedia work, such as writing for websites, managing social media, or contributing to newsletters or blogs.
Qualifications
- Applicants must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent);
- Have graduated with a university degree in journalism and communications, media production, graphic design, information technology, or a related field.
- Demonstrate pleasant interpersonal skills.
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
- Has a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and has a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
