Overview
Provide safe and reliable transportation services for UNOPS personnel, consultants, and experts on mission. The role also involves assisting with clerical tasks and performing messenger services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, reliable, and timely transportation of authorized personnel and cargo.
- Facilitate airport transfers, including customs and immigration assistance.
- Deliver and collect mail, documents, and other items.
- Conduct radio checks and maintain communication.
- Ensure proper and cost-effective use of vehicles, maintaining accurate logs.
- Perform routine vehicle checks, minor repairs, and arrange for major repairs.
- Keep vehicles clean, roadworthy, and fully equipped.
- Ensure availability and safekeeping of all required vehicle documents and supplies.
- Take immediate action in case of an accident.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of mail, documents, and packages.
- Manage documents requiring protocol clearance.
- Collect documents destined for UNOPS offices.
- Support office administration with binding, preparing documents, maintaining registers, and handling routine clerical tasks.
- Facilitate visa, customs, and other personnel-related formalities.
- Support the organization of meetings, workshops, field missions, and conferences.
- Assist procurement processes by collecting quotations, making bill payments, and collecting procured supplies.
- Facilitate the delivery of procured items and conduct pre-delivery inspections.
- Manage shipment processes, including customs clearance and coordination with government offices.
- Ensure completion and submission of Receiving Inspection Reports (RIRs) and Goods Receiving Notes (GRNs).
Required Experience
- 3 years of relevant experience with a secondary school education.
- 0 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree.
- Relevant experience includes safe driving, defensive driving, and minor vehicle repair.
- Knowledge of driving rules and regulations is required.
- Experience of working in multicultural environments or UN system organizations in a developing country is desired.
- Experience in development or humanitarian contexts is desired.
Qualifications
- Secondary school (or equivalent) OR Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline.
- Driver’s training with a valid driver’s licence is required.
