Overview
Provide cultural expertise to support the production of studies and inform the community of interest regarding China. Maintain awareness of the China domain through research and develop reports, briefings, and papers, primarily using Chinese sources.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide analysis on assigned tasks, ensuring continuity of cross-functional support.
- Maintain awareness of the China domain through research and develop reports, briefings, papers, or other deliverables.
- Provide cultural awareness to ongoing China analysis and inform the China community.
- Assist in developing and maintaining a China and Asia-Pacific community of interest within NATO and with broader relevant parties.
- Support workshops organized by CAFS to develop and update shared baseline analysis.
Required Experience
- 2 years function-related experience with a University Degree in relevant modern languages, any subject if education accomplished in both of the mandatory languages or related discipline.
- 4 years post-related experience with Higher Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in that discipline leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation.
- Experience living, working or studying in China.
- Produced published studies demonstrating knowledge of Chinese political / geopolitical, human, economical, technological and environmental issues.
- Strong English-language writing, communication and interview skills, and strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of open-source information sources and excellent internet research skills.
- Demonstrated expertise on China through former position for at least two years; or minimum of two published works in the last 10 years (desirable).
- Demonstrated three years' experience in defence or government environment (desirable).
