Overview
The Senior Finance Associate will provide specialized finance functions, ensuring accurate and timely delivery in compliance with UNICEF financial rules and regulations. The role involves researching, adapting, and evaluating irregular cases, and recommending process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support and oversight to transactional teams, including technical expertise and procedural oversight.
- Monitor team performance, identify gaps, and ensure quality control.
- Lead the development and maintenance of critical process documentation.
- Enable informed decision-making by providing data-driven insights and reports.
- Monitor process performance trends and suggest adjustments.
- Offer insights into operational risks, challenges, and strategic opportunities.
- Drive process improvement by leading or contributing to business solution initiatives.
- Identify and resolve technical or process-related bottlenecks.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and identify areas for process redesign.
- Recommend and implement innovative solutions for performance enhancement.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and build strong working relationships.
- Support behavioral change initiatives and coach stakeholders.
- Gather and define system requirements for system enhancements.
- Participate in system testing and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Support the smooth rollout of system enhancements.
- Assist in troubleshooting system issues.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliation tasks, including analysis and follow-up on reconciling items.
- Perform analytical and reconciliation tasks on general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts.
- Apply technical knowledge to propose solutions for accounting transaction issues.
- Assist in preparation of month-end and year-end financial closure activities.
- Perform HACT assurance activities, including review of CSO budgets and spot-checks.
- Occasionally carry out verification of cash transfer documents for compliance tests.
- Perform any other task when required.
Required Experience
Minimum seven (7) years of relevant experience in the area of finance and accounting is required.
Qualifications
Completion of secondary education (BAC) is required. Professional and/or university courses related to the field of work are highly desirable.
