Overview
The Programme Specialist (Cholera) coordinates the preparation and response to cholera outbreaks in the DRC, supporting the implementation of emergency cholera programs for community responses.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinates the preparation and response to cholera outbreaks.
- Supports the direct implementation of the emergency cholera program for community responses.
- Responsible for the development, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of emergency interventions related to cholera outbreaks and risks.
- Provides coordination and support for policy and program planning and management of the UNICEF supported cholera program.
- Oversees the activities of the internal UNICEF cholera task force and the cholera technical groups within the clusters.
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible professional work experience at international levels in emergency programme/project development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and administration.
- At least 6 years of experience in managing public health emergency programmes/projects and emergency teams and emergencies in several contexts (displacements, disaster management, others.).
- Experience in rapid response cholera programs, especially CATI is required.
- Experience in Humanitarian, Programme Management, Partnership Management, UN systems, Emergency are also required.
Qualifications
A Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in one of the following fields: public health, WASH, humanitarian an assistance or other related disciplines. Preferably a combination of public health and emergency management.
