Overview

The role assists the Programme Manager (Shelter/NFI) in the implementation of the programme by developing shelter designs, technical drawings, and 3D views, and ensuring compliance with regulations.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the development of shelter sketch designs and technical drawings using CAD software.
  • Assist with the development of 3D views using 3D modelling software.
  • Contribute to the development of architectural concepts, schematic designs, and design development phases.
  • Ensure designs comply with building codes, zoning regulations, and other legal requirements.
  • Assist on conducting research on materials, construction techniques, and building systems.
  • Prepare maps using Geographic Information System software.
  • Assist in project management tasks, ensuring projects meet deadlines, budgets, and quality requirements.
  • Contribute to quality control checks.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and sustainable design practices.
  • Integrate sustainable and innovative solutions into architectural designs.
  • Represent IOM Shelter/NFI Programme in relevant coordination meetings.
  • Assist in presenting design proposals and gathering feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative and creative work environment.
  • Provide information and documentation for project reports, presentations, and proposals.
  • Address and resolve project-related issues or challenges.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation.
  • Share insights and contribute to problem-solving.
  • Prioritize safety in architectural designs and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Experience
  • Experience in the usage of CAD, 3D modelling software is required.
  • Experience in construction design is required.
  • Experience in using GIS software and mapping is an advantage.
  • Experience with International Organizations and/or NGOs is an advantage.
  • Experience in shelter construction, site planning and site development is an advantage.
  • Experience working within the region is an advantage.
  • Experience in the usage of spreadsheets and data analysis is an advantage.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in architecture, Civil Engineer or a related field from an accredited academic institution with 2 years of relevant experience; or
  • Bachler’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineer or a related field from an accredited academic institution with 5 years of relevant experience.
