Overview

The National Officer will provide oversight and coordinate specific portfolios in IOM Brazil, at the national level, and lead the implementation of activities in line with IOM's initiatives.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the coordination and monitoring of operational, administrative and financial aspects of the project.
  • Keep the supervisor informed on project implementation status.
  • Participate in the development and adjustment of work plans, project budgets, M&E tools and SOPs.
  • Coordinate data collection, verification and analysis.
  • Update information management systems and social media platforms.
  • Coordinate timely preparation and dissemination of project reports.
  • Liaise and coordinate with donors, partners, UN agencies, local authorities and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to planning, development, organization and delivery of capacity building activities.
  • Attend relevant conferences, workshops and meetings.
  • Participate in the preparation of project proposals and communication products.
  • Supervise and provide training and technical guidance to project staff.
  • Undertake duty travel relating to project implementation.
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree with two years of relevant professional experience; or Master’s degree.
  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies and NGOs.
  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, IDPs, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups.
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organizations in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
  • Experience in project management, including managing projects with Government or UN agency, civil society, regional or international organization.
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience in activities related to migration, refugee resettlement, family reunification, protection of migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, victims of trafficking and IDPs, or other relevant programs.
  • Experience with movement operations and migrant support is highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of IOM’s policies and procedures is highly advantageous.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution.
  • Master’s degree in the above-mentioned fields.

Languages Required
• Fluency in Portuguese, Spanish and English is required (oral and written).
Languages Preferred
• Proficiency in another IOM’s official language (French) is desirable.
Contract Duration
• 3 months (Initial Contract Duration) • Up to 9 months (Contract Type)
