Overview

Internship opportunity to assist in the implementation of activities to strengthen capacities of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) and local Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) Cluster partners on inclusive approaches in displacement sites.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the review and development of guidance and training material for the inclusion of persons with disabilities in emergency preparedness and response;
  • Support liaison with selected countries and organizations and the monitoring of actions related to the project, including the microgrants scheme to OPDs and local CCCM partners;
  • Support the logistical and administrative arrangements for the capacity building activities within the project, including the organization of a regional training;
  • Contribute to reporting exercises to donors and partners;
  • Contribute to developing key messages and talking points on disability inclusion for meetings, webinars and other events as required;
  • Support the development of communication, visibility and advocacy material when required;
  • Assist in efforts to develop collaboration with key project partners on inclusion – UN agencies, specialized NGOs, local and global Organizations of Persons with Disabilities and local CCCM partners;
  • Keep abreast of global discussions, evidence and best practices on disability inclusion in emergencies, and periodically share knowledge with team and inclusion networks at the field level;
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Required Experience
  • Experience in liaising with representatives from different organizations and coordination.
  • Interns must have less than two years of relevant working experience.
Qualifications

A completed advanced University degree from an accredited academic institution preferably in a field of study related to Migration or other relevant Social Sciences.

Fluency in English is required (oral and written).
Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.

Remuneration
Depending on experience and location, IOM provides a small monthly stipend to help offset costs. Interns benefiting from an internship allowance or scholarship granted by his/her university or other sponsoring body that includes financial remuneration or credits for coursework will not be eligible for the stipend. IOM covers Interns against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the assignment.
