Overview

The EU Humanitarian Advocacy Assistant will support the DRC Brussels Representation office in its engagement with EU institutions to influence policies related to refugees and people affected by conflict and displacement.


Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor developments and provide analyses on humanitarian crises, fragile settings, and displacement and conflict-affected populations.
  • Draft internal and external advocacy products.
  • Analyse DRC reports to inform tailored messages to EU stakeholders.
  • Support stakeholder mapping and contact list maintenance.
  • Assist with logistics and coordination of meetings.
  • Maintain intranet pages, internal newsletter, and social media networks.
  • Format and proofread documents and advocacy tools.
  • Assist with meeting attendance, note-taking, and follow-up actions.
  • Perform other administrative tasks.
Required Experience

Recent graduates and candidates with limited professional experience are strongly encouraged to apply. Individuals with a migration or refugee background are highly encouraged to apply. Knowledge of EU institutions and relevant legal frameworks. Demonstrated interest in DRC’s areas of work through academic, professional, or voluntary experience. Knowledge of and interest in EU humanitarian advocacy, or previous experience in the humanitarian sector. Familiarity with the work of civil society, non-governmental organizations, the United Nations, and/or EU institutions.

Qualifications

• University degree (bachelor required, master recommended) in law, social sciences, international development, humanitarian aid, or any other relevant degree.

Contract Duration
6 months – with possibility to extend up to another 6 months

Remuneration
Paid internship for 6 months (Belgian Contract – “Contract Belge d’immersion professionelle”). Partial refund of monthly transportation costs. Lunch vouchers.
