Overview
The Senior Investment Officer will originate, manage, and drive financial sector investments across the Caribbean and oversee the portfolio. The role focuses on developing investment strategies, evaluating and structuring new transactions, and monitoring portfolio performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of banking, financial institutions, and related industry knowledge.
- Develop a strong pipeline of good quality investment opportunities in the Caribbean.
- Develop and drive investment strategies in the region.
- Engage with mid and senior-level clients of projects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with multilateral partners and government officials.
- Evaluate, structure, negotiate, and close new transactions.
- Provide support to regional industry and portfolio teams.
- Provide supervision and support to more junior staff.
- Work with the FIG country team, country, and industry managers to formulate a FIG strategy.
- Monitor portfolio performance and recommend follow up and proactive support.
- Provide leadership and support in the development of the Financial Institutions Group’s knowledge management strategy.
- Coordinate closely with social, environmental, advisory, and technical assistance colleagues.
- Coordinate closely with IBRD and MIGA teams.
- Take responsibility for supervision of investments in the financial industry sector.
- Mentor and coach less-experienced investment staff.
- Assist in other project or strategy related activities.
Required Experience
- 12+ years of experience in banking and finance, with evidence of growing expertise in banking, financial institutions, and finance related disciplines.
- Prior experience at IFC, the World Bank Group, or another multilateral development bank working with the private sector is highly valued, particularly candidates with a track record of originating and processing transactions at such institutions.
- Strong financial and credit skills.
- Good management skills with proven track record of success in developing client relationships and execution of client engagements.
- Demonstrated capacity to originate and generate business, including across innovative and complex transaction structures.
- Knowledge and Experience in International Economic Development Arena and commitment to sustainable development.
- Excellent business judgment and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Great team player, able to mentor and train more junior staff.
- Capacity to deal with conflicting priorities and deliver high quality work on schedule.
- Facility to work successfully in multicultural teams and across boundaries.
- Knowledge of the Caribbean financial market system is preferred and familiarity with the Central American and/or Mexican financial systems is a plus.
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in finance, economics, or other related areas.
