Overview

Manages project activities to assist IAEA Member States in planning and building new research reactors and developing national infrastructure. Promotes and facilitates access to research reactors for nuclear capacity building.


Key Responsibilities
  • Arrange and conduct consultants' meetings, technical meetings, conferences, symposia, workshops and other scientific meetings in the field of planning and building new RRs, including development of the national infrastructure to support new RRs projects, and capacity building based on existing RR facilities.
  • Organize and conduct peer review missions on development of nuclear infrastructure for RR projects in Member States.
  • Prepare technical documents and reports in the field of planning and building new RRs, including development of the national infrastructure to support new RR projects, and capacity building based on existing RR facilities.
  • Provide technical assistance to Member States through relevant IAEA’s Technical Cooperation projects related to planning and building new RRs, including development of the national infrastructure to support new RRs projects, and capacity building based on existing RR facilities.
  • Liaise and interact with Permanent Missions, organizations in Member States and NGOs on planning, funding, and implementation of operational projects related to planning and building new RRs, including development of the national infrastructure to support new RRs projects, and capacity building based on existing RR facilities.
  • Collaborate with members of the Section, Division, other Divisions, international organizations and Member States in areas of mutual interest.
Required Experience

At least 10 years' working experience in the subject area, of which at least 2 years at international level, particularly in new RR projects, RR supporting infrastructure assessment and development, nuclear capacity building using RRs. Working experience in the following areas is an asset: RR utilization and strategic planning, RR operation and maintenance, RR modernization and refurbishment, RR fuel technology.

Qualifications

Master's Degree - Advanced University degree in Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Physics or other nuclear related technical degree. Bachelor's Degree - University degree in Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Physics or other nuclear related technical degree with two years of additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of advance university degree.

Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.

Remuneration
Tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $103165 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $ 55915*, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses; Other benefits include 6 weeks' annual leave, home leave travel, pension plan and health insurance.
