Overview
The Finance Specialist will handle day-to-day finance tasks, improve budget and cost management, and ensure financial accuracy and compliance for people affected by conflict, displacement, and crisis.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of financial management capacity building of staff.
- Provide technical support and advice to country finance teams.
- Reinforce existing procedures and systems for financial management and control.
- Support timely delivery of quality financial reports to donors and internal teams.
- Ensure compliance with relevant country statutory and financial obligations.
- Conduct monthly financial briefings to relevant Managers.
- Ensure thorough and effective budgetary control in country programs.
- Liaise with Managers on key financial issues for all programs.
- Collect cash forecasts and request funds in a timely manner.
- Maintain an overview of funding levels and shared support costs.
- Ensure documentation for financial audits.
- Ensure monthly meetings with project managers to discuss variances and remedial action.
- Prepare for local audits.
- Contribute to proposal development with regards to budgeting.
Required Experience
- At least 3 years of practical experience in financial management within international organizations.
- Proven experience in managing large budgets.
- Competence in providing technical guidance and training.
- Proven experience in working with national partners, local/government authorities.
- Working experience with relevant donors (e.g. UNHCR, ECHO, OFDA, WFP, DFID or BPRM guidelines).
Qualifications
University degree: higher education in Finance/Accounting or Business Administration.
