Overview

Interns will support the Director of the Division of External Operations by conducting research, performing legal analysis, and drafting various documents. The role contributes to the Court's mission of investigating and prosecuting grave international crimes.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct background research on a wide variety of matters to support the work of the Director of the Division of External Operations;
  • Conduct legal analysis on issues related to judicial cooperation, cooperation with the States and IGOs and operations;
  • Draft minutes of both internal and external meetings;
  • Draft letters, speaking points, speeches and other documents for the Director and other Registry officials;
  • Assist in drafting legal and policy memoranda, reports and analyses on assigned topics;
  • Assist in updating and producing content for the DEO intranet site;
  • Perform any other duties as required.
Required Experience

Practical experience that is relevant to the work of the Court, especially from an international environment, will be considered an asset, but should not exceed three years.

Qualifications

All Candidates must have a degree or be in the final stages of a relevant study at a recognized university in political science, law, management, journalism/public information, or a related field. Candidates are expected to have a very good record of academic performance.

Languages Required
Proficiency in one of the working languages of the Court, French or English, is required.
Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of the other working language (French or English) is considered an asset. Knowledge of another official language of the Court (Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.

Remuneration
Internship placements at the ICC are unfunded. The ICC is not able to provide participants with any remuneration, nor is it possible to provide reimbursement for expenses incurred prior, during or after the internship.
