Overview

The incumbent supports continuous and secure network operations, provides network maintenance, and first- and second-level user support for the CommsNet. The role involves handling incidents, system problem reports, and change requests, conducting root-level analysis of issues, and coordinating with relevant parties.


Key Responsibilities
  • Administering, maintaining, operating, troubleshooting and monitoring system performance and resources of network and cyber security infrastructure.
  • Responding directly to Help Desk inquiries from users relating to installation, hardware troubleshooting and updates.
  • Performing system administration including backups, updates, system testing and hardware replacement.
  • Ensuring configurations comply with network standards and reviewing log files to pre-detect problems.
  • Contributing to the assessment and design of technical architectures for network and security solutions.
  • Maintaining test environment hardware and software.
  • Responding to network traffic alerts and advising on solutions.
  • Maintaining network status summaries for participating States.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of six years of progressive experience in the operation of complex networks and security systems.
  • Experience obtained at international private or government organizations related to information technology or network operations.
  • Professional experience with Cisco networking and cryptographic equipment (security devices, routers, switches) is required.
  • Advanced understanding and integration of MS Windows Server 2019, MS Windows 10/11, MS Exchange Server 2019, MS SQL Server 2019, Linux, virtualization (especially VMWare), enterprise network administration (especially Cisco-based), and TCP/IP protocols.
  • Experience with and knowledge of Microsoft server environments (including Windows Server, Active Directory, Internet Information Services), standard Microsoft server services (e.g., DNS, DHCP etc.), and Linux is desirable.
Qualifications
  • Completed Secondary School education, supplemented by formal training in Computer/Electrical/Electronic/Network Technology.
  • A first-level university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, IT Security, Computer Engineering or related fields is an asset.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) Core Infrastructure and Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) related to SQL Server and Windows Server expertise, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise/Security and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Security Certifications would be an additional asset.

Remuneration
• Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deduction, is around EUR 5,580 (12 times a year) depending on family status. • OSCE salaries are exempt from taxation in Austria. • Social benefits will include possibility of participation in the Cigna medical insurance scheme and the OSCE Provident Fund. • Appointments are normally made at Step 1 of the applicable OSCE salary scale. • In exceptional cases, an initial appointment at up to Step 3 may be considered.
