Overview

Seeking two new Trustees to provide strategic advice, guidance, and oversight for the good governance of IRC UK, supporting the delivery of its strategic plan.


Key Responsibilities
  • Fulfil Trustees’ legal duties and ensure good governance.
  • Lend specific experience and skills to provide strategic advice and guidance.
  • Provide strategic oversight to ensure strategic objectives are met.
  • Ensure sound governance, oversee regulatory compliance, risk oversight, and organisational resilience.
  • Contribute to Board and Committee effectiveness.
  • Act as an ambassador, promoting the organisation externally.
  • Uphold commitments to safeguarding and equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Required Experience
  • Senior leadership experience within a complex international and matrix-structured organisation (charity, NGO, public, private).
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to support and challenge executive leadership.
  • Strong cross-cultural awareness.
  • High standards of integrity and accountability.
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex information pertaining to financial position, risk, and performance.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Interest and willingness to devote necessary time and effort.
  • Desirable: Experience in or understanding of the international development or UK charity sector; Experience operating at Board or equivalent strategic level; Strong networks and willingness to make connections, particularly in high-value fundraising.
  • Particularly interested in candidates with strategic understanding of refugee issues in the UK, digital expertise and networks, or philanthropy and partnerships experience.

Contract Duration
Trustees may serve up to two three-year terms. At the recommendation of the People & Culture Committee, the Board may vote to keep a Trustee for a third term of one or maximum two years. All Trustees must rotate off the board after eight years.
Work Modality
In-person attendance at our office in London is encouraged, but not essential. Interviews can be held remotely, or in-person in our London offices.
Remuneration
The roles are unpaid. However, reasonable expenses are reimbursed in line with IRC UK’s Expenses Policy.
