Overview
Ensures strong financial management, compliance, and accountability across a portfolio of humanitarian and development projects. Supports project teams and partners to deliver high-quality programmes while maintaining robust financial controls and donor compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Review partner financial reports and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with organisational and donor requirements
- Support financial reviews during project and partner kick-off meetings
- Prepare internal financial reports, budget templates, and consolidated project financial reports
- Monitor project budgets and support monthly and quarterly forecasting processes
- Work closely with Project Managers to ensure accurate budget allocation and expenditure tracking
- Attend programme and project review meetings to provide financial insights and support decision-making
- Prepare partner verification reports and participate in partner spot-check visits
- Support partner organisations to strengthen their financial management systems and practices
- Validate partner payments and ensure all required documentation is complete and compliant
- Maintain accurate contract records and update financial tracking tools
- Support the Syria programme through monthly reviews of financial documentation and payments
- Conduct regular field visits to Syria to review office and partner financial records and compliance
- Prepare accounting entries, including payroll, rent allocations, shared costs, and partner expenses
- Reconcile partner balances and maintain accurate accounting records
- Prepare donor financial reports and support project closure processes
- Contribute to internal and external audits by ensuring financial records are complete, accurate, and accessible
Required Experience
- At least 3–5 years' experience in accounting and finance
- Experience working with grants and donor-funded projects
- Experience preparing financial reports, reconciliations, forecasts, and journal entries
- Strong knowledge of financial controls, compliance requirements, and risk management principles
- Experience reviewing financial reports and supporting documentation and identifying potential risks or discrepancies
- Knowledge of local financial regulations, including taxation and social security requirements
- Understanding of donor regulations and compliance requirements within the humanitarian or development sector
- Experience working with NGOs, INGOs, or non-profit organisations
- Experience supporting or building the financial capacity of teams or partner organisations
Qualifications
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related Business degree.
