Overview

The intern will support the design and development of an application to automate the monitoring and updating of urban policy-related content, with a specific focus on municipal financing and budgeting frameworks in Latin America and the Caribbean.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the design and development of an application to automate the monitoring and updating of urban policy-related content on the Cities and Urban Platform.
  • Focus on municipal financing and budgeting frameworks in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Have the skills to design and develop automated data pipelines, work with large language model (LLM) APIs, and build web scraping or text classification systems.

Languages Required
Fluency in spoken and written Spanish is required.
Languages Preferred
Studies combining technical skills with public policy, law, or urban planning are an advantage.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
