Overview

The DevOps and Cloud Infrastructure Technician will keep the platform online, fast, and secure, regardless of traffic volume or the frequency of updates. The role focuses on infrastructure stability, data security, and safe deployment environments.


Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and maintain cloud infrastructure capable of auto-scaling.
  • Build robust security layers ensuring data is encrypted and compliant with Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019.
  • Create and manage safe continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Maintain separate testing environments.
  • Implement continuous monitoring and automated alerts.
  • Manage reliable and frequent backups.
Required Experience

Hands-on experience setting up and managing continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, implementing data security protocols, and managing server monitoring tools. A strong understanding of data privacy laws and encryption standards, with the ability to troubleshoot network and server issues quickly. High attention to detail, a strong sense of responsibility for data security, and the ability to remain calm and responsive during high-traffic events.

Remuneration
A UN Volunteer receives a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) per month and is paid at the end of each month to cover housing, utilities, transportation, communications and other basic needs. The VLA can be computed by applying the Post-Adjustment Multiplier (PAM) to the VLA base rate of US$1,602. UNV provides life, health, permanent disability insurances as well as assignment travel, annual leave, full integration in the UN security framework (including residential security reimbursements). UN Volunteers are paid Daily Subsistence Allowance at the UN rate for official travels, flight tickets for the final repatriation travel (if applicable). A resettlement allowance is paid for satisfactory service at the end of the assignment.
