Overview
To contribute to the regional migration fund response and cross-border infrastructure implementation through the provision of high-quality water and livelihood development programs. The role will provide engineering technical support for construction or rehabilitation needs of public infrastructures.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing engineering technical support, including construction or rehabilitation needs of public infrastructures through assessment, development of technical designs, BOQs, management of D&S firms/contractors, capacity building and evaluation of construction staff.
- Develop direct support on RMF infrastructure programs and strengthen and provide technical support for Save the Children’s core Program sectors of health, Water, livelihood improvement, employment promotion and hunger reduction where required.
- In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
Required Experience
- Significant technical experience working in an emergency response context or fragile states
- Previous experience in Water and Livelihood Infrastructure construction
- Previous experience in IGAD, AFDB, KFW and World bank project management, procurement and contract management skills
- Proven experience in Fidic yellow book contract management
- Experience of and commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability in a RMF project context
- Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation
- Previous experience in capacity building and training of the construction staff for both the contractors and D&S firm staff
Qualifications
• Batchlor/master’s degree in civil engineering, Construction management, Architecture, water engineering or a related field, or equivalent field experience
