Overview

The United Nations Department of Global Communication (DGC) is seeking an intern to assist in communications and advocacy functions at the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Mexico City.


Key Responsibilities
  • - Assist in the development and implementation of a communications plan for the UN Mexico Results Report.
  • - Contribute to the dissemination and promotion of the SDG Book Club, Mexico Chapter.
  • - Support the design and implementation of a plan to promote Information Integrity in Mexico.
  • - Assist in monitoring misinformation trends in Mexico.
  • - Contribute to inter-agency initiatives aimed at combating misinformation and hate speech.
  • - Support the creation and maintenance of a database of communities of practice.
  • - Assist in conducting a needs assessment of UNCG capacities.
  • - Support the development of communication tools and training materials.
  • - Assist in the creation of public information content for various platforms.
  • - Perform other related tasks as required.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
  • Have a good working knowledge of standard office software applications, particularly MS Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Possess a good working knowledge of multimedia production tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere), CapCut, Canva, or related applications.
  • Have the ability to draft and edit news articles, press releases, and/or engaging social media content.

Languages Required
Fluency in oral and written Spanish is required.
Languages Preferred
Fluency in English is desirable.

Remuneration
The internship is UNPAID. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
