Overview
This internship supports the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) Regional Office for the Arab States (ROAS) in Cairo, Egypt, focusing on risk knowledge and analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct desk reviews on DRR in Arab States, focusing on local hazards.
- Prepare short background notes and inputs for meetings and workshops.
- Track regional risk knowledge reports and summarize emerging risk trends.
- Collect and organize disaster-related data on impacts, losses, and damages.
- Support development of country or hazard profiles and knowledge products.
- Draft fact sheets and brief case studies on regional practices.
- Take notes and prepare summaries for regional workshops and meetings.
- Support planning and implementation of risk knowledge events.
- Help document and share lessons learned from activities.
- Assist in drafting concept notes, talking points, and briefs.
- Provide inputs for regional coordination and stakeholder meetings.
Required Experience
Interns do not require work experience.
Qualifications
- Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent).
- Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams;
- Applicants must be computer literate in standard software applications including MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
