Overview
Provide expertise in Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) through training, mentorship, research, and tool development to support UNICEF's work in over 190 countries and territories.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and adapt SBC training materials, tools, and learning resources.
- Deliver workshops, Training of Trainers (ToT), and onboarding sessions.
- Strengthen practical SBC skills, including intervention development, human centered design, and monitoring and evaluation.
- Assess learning outcomes and support institutionalization of SBC learning systems.
- Provide coaching and advisory support to programme teams.
- Review SBC strategies, workplans, and deliverables.
- Support implementation troubleshooting and real-time technical guidance.
- Provision of structured feedback and improvement plans.
- Facilitate peer learning, knowledge exchange, and organizational SBC integration.
- Design and support formative research, assessments, and evaluations.
- Develop research tools and support data collection and analysis.
- Translate behavioural insights into actionable SBC strategies and interventions.
- Produce reports, briefs, presentations, and other knowledge products.
- Support the design and development of SBC strategies and interventions based on evidence and behavioural insights.
- Develop, adapt, and quality-assure SBC tools, guidance documents, frameworks, and operational resources.
- Create practical implementation materials and reference resources to support programme delivery.
- Provide support for behaviour change messaging and material creation, as part of public advocacy campaigns.
- Support campaign baseline and/or endline surveys to measure the extent of knowledge, attitude and behaviour change.
- Document good practices, lessons learned, and case studies to strengthen SBC programming and institutional capacity.
Required Experience
- Demonstrated experience in individual and institutional Social and Behaviour Change capacity development.
- Hands-on experience in co-development of tailored capacity development workshops.
- Experience designing and delivering capacity building activities such as trainings, workshops, simulations, or webinars for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high quality written outputs including analytical reports, dashboards, strategies, and case studies.
- Experience working with or supporting UN agencies, humanitarian organizations, or development programmes is an asset.
- Strong understanding of social and behaviour change (SBC) programmatic, analytical and monitoring frameworks.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams, coordinate with diverse stakeholders, and deliver outputs under tight timelines.
- Experience of working with/for UNICEF or other UN organizations is desirable, especially in China.
- Knowledge and understanding of China and its development context.
Qualifications
• Advanced university degree (master's or higher) in social and behavioral science, including sociology, anthropology, communication studies, psychology and/or related field.
