Overview

Consultant to lead work on global mining legacy funds and provide technical support to circularity metrics through programme development, stakeholder engagement, and implementation support.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of the AR3, including refinement of the concept note and implementation approach, coordination with the core team, and engagement with key partners and stakeholders.
  • Conduct the assessment, selection, and implementation of pilot country activities, including the identification and engagement of technical partners, provision of technical guidance, and documentation of lessons learned and opportunities for scale-up.
  • Develop proposals for the Global Legacy Fund, including recommendations on its governance structure, operational framework, and implementation modalities.
  • Lead stakeholder consultations and information-sharing activities with governments, partners, and other relevant organizations, and support the integration of stakeholder feedback into the AR3 implementation plan.
  • Prepare progress reports, technical briefings, presentations, and other materials of AR3 to support stakeholder engagement, key events, and senior management decision-making.
  • Provide technical expertise for the circularity work stream, including the refinement of the concept note for metrics development, stakeholder engagement, and related technical frameworks.
  • Support the development, review, and finalization of business cases, technical analyses, and knowledge products to advance circularity across mineral and metal value chains.
Required Experience
  • At least five (5) years of work experience in activities and projects related to mine closure and remediation of legacy mining sites, sustainable consumption and production, and circular economy;
  • Experience in working with national governments in developing countries is required;
  • Experience in working in and with the private sector is required, especially in the mining industry;
  • Experience in working with the United Nations and international organisations is required;
  • Very sophisticated writing skills with proven track records of developing high-quality technical documents, and good verbal communication skills with proven ability to liaise with external stakeholders in governments, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, and the private sector.
  • Experience on development of industry mining standard is desirable.
Qualifications

• Advanced university degree in a field related to geosciences, environmental studies, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or equivalent experience. A first level degree with an additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree
