Overview

The Driver provides reliable and safe driving services to UN officials and visitors, ensuring high standards of discretion and integrity. The role involves transporting personnel, delivering and collecting mail, and assisting with administrative tasks.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide reliable and secure driving services for authorized personnel, including visiting officials.
  • Deliver and collect mail, documents, and other items.
  • Meet official personnel and visitors at the airport, assisting with formalities.
  • Ensure passengers wear seatbelts and take immediate actions in case of accidents.
  • Adhere to UN Women vehicle management policies and security standards.
  • Record accurate odometer readings, fuel purchases, and maintenance records.
  • Report discrepancies in fuel consumption and maintenance to the supervisor.
  • Submit monthly vehicle utilization reports.
  • Ensure cost-saving by driving responsibly.
  • Conduct day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle.
  • Make minor repairs and arrange for major repairs.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Ensure vehicles are regularly cleaned.
  • Maintain and ensure availability of required vehicle documents and supplies.
  • Assist office staff in filing, photocopying, and maintaining records.
  • Assist in mailing, distribution of publications, and payment of bills.
  • Monitor time to return to the compound as per security rules.
  • Report any misconduct behaviour and document risk factors.
  • Coordinate with the security team before field missions.
  • Coordinate with other drivers during field missions and UN convoys.
Required Experience
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a safe driving record.
  • Experience in administration, logistical, and protocol support services is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining accurate vehicle and fuel logs, including record-keeping practices that support audit and accountability requirements, is required.
  • Experience working with Government partners is desirable.
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) is required.
Qualifications
  • Completion of secondary education is required.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.

Languages Required
• Working knowledge of English is required. • Working knowledge of Dari and Pashto is required.
Languages Preferred
• Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish).
