Overview
The Coordination Officer - Gender Equality and Youth Development will support the UN Resident Coordinator's Office in India, UN Women, and UNFPA in mainstreaming gender and youth across the UN Country Team and supporting the UN Sustainable Development Framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the UN sub-group on gender and youth, including planning and implementation of work plans, development of joint programs, and provision of technical support.
- Strengthen the capacity of the UN Country Team, conduct advocacy and outreach, and organize meetings and events.
- Provide technical support to mainstream women and youth empowerment across UN programmes and reporting.
- Support the mainstreaming of gender and youth results within UN coordination sub-groups.
- Monitor and provide quality assurance services to Results Groups.
- Maintain information flow to UN agencies regarding the UN Development Assistance Framework and UN HQs communications.
- Participate in Results Groups, providing support for planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Assist in developing and monitoring Joint/Collaborative programs/initiatives and prepare periodic reports.
- Undertake designs for joint programs and communication.
- Prepare high-quality documents and knowledge products.
- Provide support for UNCT Retreats and other UNCT meetings.
- Support annual RCO planning and reporting on Gender Equality and Youth Development.
- Analyze the situation on gender equality and youth development and co-produce analytical papers.
- Organize and support research and analysis on gender and youth empowerment.
- Prepare concept notes, programme/project proposals, resource mobilization tools, and activity and budget proposals.
- Undertake substantive monitoring, documentation, and reporting of the Results group on gender equality and youth development.
- Support other results groups to prepare gender mainstreaming strategies.
- Ensure sharing of information, tools, and best practices.
- Organize trainings for UN, government, and civil society partners.
- Support the coordination of joint advocacy and capacity building.
- Develop high-quality knowledge products for advocacy or learning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- Seven years of proven professional experience in working on gender equality and youth issues.
- Experience in providing technical support and strategic coordination with different stakeholders and partners (e.g., national or state government, civil society, international organizations).
- Ability to design, manage and monitor programs for women and young people an asset.
- Ability to write good quality knowledge products for use in advocacy and policy development.
- Good knowledge/experience with grassroots organizations is an asset.
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in international development, Gender, Human Rights, Public Administration or Social Sciences.
