Overview
The Safety Assistant (Radio Operator) is responsible for monitoring and recording staff and vehicle movements, information networks, and updating alert groups to ensure timely information flow regarding the security situation.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and record all movements of DRC vehicles and staff.
- Monitor information networks and update local alert groups.
- Follow the security situation within the relevant area of operation.
- Forward information on any changes to the security situation to the safety Department.
- Maintain a high level of alertness and discipline.
- Be responsible for communication and monitor the movement of vehicles and personnel.
- Collect hourly/daily location reports.
- Distribute received messages and information.
- Provide regular updates on the situation.
- Inform the immediate supervisor/manager of changes in the security situation, incidents affecting safety, or unforeseen situations.
- Ensure confidentiality of information.
- Track using the GPS system and verify that DRC vehicle tracking devices are active.
- Update contact databases for all DRC staff.
- Transfer relevant trip information into the appropriate table.
- Monitor the air security situation.
- Conduct weekly checks of communication equipment.
- Conduct briefings and instruct staff before trips.
- Provide staff with necessary safety equipment.
- Complete any other tasks as instructed by the manager.
Required Experience
Preferably at least 2 years of relevant experience.
Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in a relevant subject is preferred but not required.
- Basic computer skills, including Excel and standard office tools.
