Overview
The Senior Protection Associate will support the Protection Unit in ensuring protection standards and practices align with international standards and UNHCR policies. The role contributes to monitoring and analysis of protection trends and supports advocacy and interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the monitoring and analysis of protection trends, risks, needs, and responses.
- Support advocacy and interventions across child protection and gender-based violence.
- Provide protection and legal guidance internally and to UNHCR partners.
- Support initiatives related to monitoring protection delivery by partners and identifying protection gaps.
- Contribute to drafting position papers, guidance notes, and operational recommendations.
- Systematically monitor and document developments related to protection activities.
- Consolidate observations to support evidence-based analysis and decision-making.
- Support the preparation of guidance materials and recommendations for national counterparts and stakeholders.
- Compile good practices, comparative analyses, and thematic reports on protection issues.
- Support the preparation of UNHCR publications and facilitate dissemination of guidance and information.
- Support capacity-building activities for national and partner institutions.
- May represent the Office externally on protection doctrine, policy, and operational matters.
Required Experience
Minimum 4 years of relevant professional experience in protection, asylum, migration management, or related areas.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or equivalent or higher in Law, Political Science, International Relations, Social Sciences or a related field.
