Overview

To provide facilities management and engineering expertise and contribute to the efficient delivery of building management services for Global HQ and Country Offices.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day administration of maintenance and facility management service contracts and monitor contractor performance.
  • Support the management of utilities contracts and prepare technical specifications for facility management services tenders.
  • Support the uninterrupted functionality of critical building systems and respond to facility emergencies.
  • Contribute to optimizing energy and resource use through sustainable practices and identify energy-saving measures.
  • Perform quality and compliance activities in line with WFP policies and procedures, Italian norms and standards.
  • Promote a safe working environment by monitoring compliance with Health and Safety and Fire Safety standards.
  • Liaise with landlords for extraordinary maintenance actions.
  • Prepare cost estimates and work schedules, and monitor expenditures against project budgets.
  • Supervise contractors and service providers to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Coordinate the delivery of assigned infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Support the preparation of reports on the use of Government Funds for facility improvements.
  • Provide technical advice to field offices on facility management and engineering issues.
  • Conduct site assessments of WFP facilities in the field and contribute to the development of remedial plans.
  • Prepare evidenced based recommendations for senior staff on measures to improve WFP facilities.
Required Experience
  • Minimum Three(3) years of post-graduate professional experience in operations and maintenance, and 1 year experience of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems in large scale buildings (min. 20,000 sqm).
  • Experience in Contract Management.
  • Experience with procurement procedures and practices.
  • Experience in a UN organization would be an asset.
Qualifications
  • Advanced University degree in Engineering (Mechanical. Electrical, Building, Civil) or Architecture from an institution recognized by https://www.whed.net/home.php), obtained after a minimum of five years of full time study.
  • Accreditation to National Professional Register as Engineer or Architect or recognized equivalent by an appropriate national or international regulatory authority.

Fluency (level C) in in oral and written English and Italian is required.
Languages Preferred
Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or Portuguese (a WFP working language).
