Overview

The WASH Officer provides technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the WASH programming process, focusing on supplies for water, sanitation, and hygiene interventions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, manage, and implement technical and administrative tasks related to the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of WASH output results.
  • Work on supplies for water, sanitation, and hygiene interventions along the supplies management cycle: identification, procurement, transport, warehousing, entry approvals, and distribution/use.
  • Programme development and planning.
  • Programme management, monitoring, and delivery of results.
  • Technical and operational support for programme implementation.
  • Humanitarian WASH preparedness and response.
  • Networking and partnership building.
  • Innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building.
Required Experience

A minimum of two years of professional work experience in WASH-related programmes for developing countries is required. Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is desirable.

Qualifications

An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: civil, sanitary, water, environmental engineering or another relevant technical field. Additional relevant post-graduate courses that complement/supplement the main degree are a strong asset.

Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
