Overview

This internship supports the Aviation Security and Cybersecurity Policy Section in developing aviation security standards, facilitating events, and contributing to policy-related documentation.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development of a database of ICAO Annex 17 – Aviation Security Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs).
  • Provide support to event management and coordination of ICAO Security Week 2026.
  • Provide support to ICAO participation in the follow up of UNOCT Counter-Terrorism Week 2026.
  • Provide support to the implementation of UNODC-ICAO Safe Skies.
  • Provide support to the Secretary of the Task Force on Artificial Intelligence (TF-AI) of the AVSECP and more generally to the use of AI in aviation security.
  • Assist in the development of documentation and presentations related to ASP’s work.
  • Provide content for websites and secure portals associated with ICAO’s work on Aviation Security, as well as social media posts.
  • Perform other related duties.
Qualifications

Candidates are required to be enrolled in at least an undergraduate degree programme (first-level university degree or higher) in a field of study related to aviation, international relations, security, political science, law or other related fields. Applicants pursuing studies in States where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages should have completed at least two years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree.

Languages Preferred
A working knowledge of a second language of the Organization (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
