Overview

The Immunization Specialist is accountable for providing professional leadership and contributing to the development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and administration of the Immunization programme within the country programme to achieve UNICEF’s immunization-plus goals and objectives.


Key Responsibilities
  • Timely sectoral analysis, input, support and coordination contribute to the Situation Analysis with consistent integration of sex disaggregated data and its periodic update for effective project planning, development and management
  • Development and implementation of immunization strategies in collaboration with partners
  • Work planning, objective setting, and technical leadership to achieve results
  • Monitoring and evaluation of programme implementation to improve delivery and sustainability
  • Technical support to government and NGOs, including capacity building
  • Capacity building of Country Office staff in programme management and implementation
  • Financial management and accountability for programme funds and resources
  • Partnerships, advocacy, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders
  • Information management and monitoring systems to support programme performance
  • Preparation of programme reports in line with guidelines and procedures
  • Emergency preparedness and response coordination in humanitarian contexts
  • Other assigned duties and responsibilities are effectively performed.
Required Experience

A minimum of five years of professional work experience at the national or international levels in planning, programming, implementation monitoring and evaluation of health/immunization programmes is required. Professional work experience in a technical expert position related to child survival & health care is required. Developing country work experience and background or familiarity with emergencies is required. Experience in immunization programmes, public health, epidemiological analysis, programme management, data analysis, or health systems is required.

Qualifications

An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in one of the following fields is required: public health, epidemiology, public administration, paediatric health, child development, child health, nutrition, social policy, social development, or community development.

Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
