Overview
The Field Security Assistant assists in the implementation of security operations and all matters relating to safety and security for UNESCO personnel in the Sudan office.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaising and coordinating with UNDSS, other UN agencies and local government security organisations.
- Assisting in maintaining the Security Plan, including updating staff lists.
- Supporting the checking and following up on the implementation of Security Risk Management measures.
- Assessing the security situation and providing updates.
- Assisting in identifying Emergency Communications equipment needs.
- Conducting security evaluations and providing advice on security measures for residences and offices.
- Assisting in organising training courses on security issues/awareness and preparedness.
- Supporting actions during the implementation of the Security Plan.
- Maintaining routine and confidential correspondence files/documents.
- Following up on access control of UNESCO offices.
- Supporting field missions as required.
- Maintaining a database of all security incidents and completing reports.
- Assisting in conducting security & safety-related investigations.
- Assisting in responding to emergencies/crises.
- Keeping records of the issuance and return of UNESCO ID cards.
- Performing other security tasks assigned.
Required Experience
A minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in security, ideally within the military, police, or a related field. Prior experience within the United Nations system is highly desirable. Field Security Associate (FSA) certification is strongly preferred and considered an asset. Experience in diplomatic security or protection is considered an asset.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
