Overview
The Consultant, Global Innovation Initiatives will work within the IFRC Solferino Academy to support National Societies in developing leadership systems, innovation, and strategic foresight. The role involves coordinating the IFRC Limitless initiative, a youth leadership and innovation program.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure implementation of the Limitless program, incorporating donor priorities.
- Mobilise technical and content partners for Limitless program content development.
- Ensure development and deployment of content for the WhatsApp micro learning education initiative.
- Coordinate with university partners on digital platform development and automated elements.
- Manage partnerships with universities.
- Manage a pool of volunteers for mentoring and coaching young people.
- Coordinate volunteer-based coordinators.
- Coordinate and lead the work of additional staff/consultants.
- Support communications team in promoting Limitless projects.
- Ensure monitoring processes are effectively implemented.
- Provide coaching and expert guidance to National Societies in establishing youth and volunteer innovation programs.
- Source and engage external experts for specialised innovation support.
- Lead the implementation of innovation elements for senior leaders participating in leadership initiatives.
- Ensure robust evaluation of initiatives and provide reports with recommendations.
- Provide specialist innovation and foresight advice to team members.
- Develop and implement a plan of support for NSs to embed strategic foresight approaches.
- Advise and provide ongoing coaching for NSs during strategy or planning processes.
Required Experience
- Experience managing and leading major global programs specifically in the humanitarian sector.
- Substantial expertise and experience in humanitarian innovation programs that support youth/volunteer ideas, particularly through grant and peer-based support mechanisms.
- Experience working at global scale and familiarity with the complexity of supporting highly diverse youth and program managers working with youth across multiple languages and regions.
- Experience with futures and foresight methodologies, particularly workshops and training programs to help leaders consider strategic foresight approaches in their own organisations.
- Experience advising organisations on utilising and embedding strategic foresight approaches for strategy development, operational planning and policy formulation.
- Experience with learning, insights and experimentation with innovation accelerators, incubators and social entrepreneurship approaches.
- Experience and strong capability in managing, leading and inspiring staff to work collaboratively on projects with demanding deliverables.
