Overview

Provide on-demand technical support for WASH responses in disaster-affected provinces, ensuring timely and high-quality interventions aligned with international standards.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct rapid and post-disaster needs assessments and implement emergency WASH interventions.
  • Plan, implement, and report on emergency WASH supply distribution.
  • Contribute to WASH reporting in accordance with UNICEF’s Core Commitments for Children (CCC).
  • Participate in WASH Sector coordination meetings.
  • Coordinate with partners, supply division, and finance service providers for timely delivery of WASH supplies and implementation of Cash Plus for WASH.
  • Prepare weekly distribution reports during the acute response phase.
  • Collaborate with national and provincial partners to implement a monitoring plan for UNICEF’s WASH response.
  • Conduct field visits to monitor implementation, provide technical assistance, and collect disaggregated beneficiary data.
  • Engage local authorities and community leaders to ensure participation and ownership of WASH solutions.
  • Provide inputs to WASH in Emergency working groups on response plans, implementation progress, and assessments.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree or 3 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree at the national and/or international levels in Public Health, Environmental Science, Water and Sanitation Engineering, Emergency Programme Management, and other related fields.
  • Proven experience working with or providing technical support to UNICEF, UN agencies, government counterparts, and/or NGOs in the implementation of WASH programming, including community-based approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide hands-on technical guidance, mentoring, and supportive supervision to strengthen the quality, timeliness, accountability, and ethical delivery of WASH services.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills.
  • Field work experience, including community mobilization approaches on WASH.
  • Experience responding to emergencies in the WASH sector, including experience supporting the Emergency WASH Working Group and cluster approach is an advantage.
  • Knowledge on the theories, principles and methods in Sanitation and Hygiene, School WASH, water supply project management, integrated water resource management, communication for behavioural change, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of UNICEF policies and strategies to address WASH issues, including those relating to natural disasters, disaster risk reduction and environment is essential.
Qualifications

A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree or 3 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree at the national and/or international levels in Public Health, Environmental Science, Water and Sanitation Engineering, Emergency Programme Management, and other related fields.
