Overview

The Local Manager will support the implementation of the "Inclusive and Sustainable Rio" project, focusing on strengthening urban resilience and mobilizing public awareness about urban and climate resilience.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, guide and support field teams providing technical and operational support.
  • Act as the focal point between the project and the community.
  • Promote community awareness of preventive and preparation actions.
  • Plan field activities ensuring alignment with community needs.
  • Establish schedules and strategies for efficient execution of actions.
  • Contribute to the actions of field agents, in case of risk of disasters.
  • Assess field action execution, identify improvement opportunities, and propose adjustments.
  • Identify and manage potential conflicts during field operations.
  • Adapt execution strategies according to territorial specifics or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Identify training needs or adjustments for teams and report them.
  • Support the training team in planning and delivery of community training activities.
  • Develop activities to strengthen community resilience and implement actions to mitigate environmental impacts and reduce disaster risks.
  • Expand educational actions within the community to promote a culture of resilience.
  • Produce monthly reports on personal work activities.
  • Produce detailed monthly reports on field activities, including performance indicators and challenges faced.
  • Perform any other duties that may be requested by the supervisor.
  • Complete all courses and training activities indicated by the supervisor.
  • Become familiarized with United Nations security mechanisms and comply with them.
Required Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in community mobilization on topics related to urban development or disaster risk management in Brazil is required.
  • Experience in leading or coordinating teams in field operations is desirable.
  • Experience working in an inter-institutional environment, project management, monitoring-evaluation; approaches and strategies regarding good urban governance and local and regional development.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma is required, or additional two (2) years of relevant experience to the post, beyond the requirement.
  • Training courses in first aid, risk management, or team leadership are desirable.
