Overview

The Logistics Officer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing logistics functions, retail activities, and supporting Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) compliance to meet food assistance needs.


Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of logistics plans and processes.
  • Support logistics projects and day-to-day operational activities.
  • Coordinate Supply Chain CBT and retail activities.
  • Oversee warehouse operations and inventory management.
  • Support the implementation of WFP's FSQA guidelines and standards.
  • Collect and analyze data to recommend actions for improving local logistics operations.
  • Conduct financial analysis and budget reviews.
  • Guide support staff.
  • Collect data and contribute to reporting on logistics activities.
  • Support capacity building of WFP staff and partners.
  • Identify and build relationships with logistics colleagues.
  • Follow emergency logistics preparedness practices.
  • Act in an assigned emergency response capacity as required.
Required Experience

Over five (5) years of experience in Food Safety and Quality and/or procurement, logistics, or supply chain management, supporting integrated operational processes, including at least one (1) year of hands-on professional experience. Experience coordinating service providers’ contract execution. Experience arranging supplier deliveries and the discharge of WFP vessels (rail, air, or sea). Experience in supporting analytical and conceptual work on supply chain strategy and implementation. Experience in food safety and quality protocols, with basic exposure to implementing tools or procedures within operational contexts will be added value. Experience working with supply chain information systems.

Qualifications

Advanced University degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management or other related field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses. Advanced degree in Food Technology, Health Sciences, Food Control, Nutrition or similar field is an added value.
