Overview

This position supports the Information Management Unit by providing geospatial data analysis, map production, and maintaining datasets. It also contributes to emergency preparedness and response activities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Delivers geospatial data analysis and supports map production and online services.
  • Contributes to analytical outputs and reports.
  • Maintains repositories of Common Operational Datasets and thematic datasets.
  • Creates and maintains geospatial databases.
  • Designs and develops reference and thematic maps.
  • Undertakes development and maintenance of online GIS portals and dashboards.
  • Serves as a focal point for coordinating geospatial data requests and analysis.
  • Undertakes production and updating of information products.
  • Contributes to the management of content on online platforms.
  • Undertakes development of guidance materials and delivery of training on geospatial analysis.
  • Contributes to needs assessments and analysis processes.
Required Experience

A minimum of seven years (or five years if graduated with a first-level university degree) of progressively responsible experience in geographic information systems, data analysis, mapping, data visualization, information management or related areas is required. At least 3 years of experience using GIS software (ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, QGIS etc), Business Intelligence tools (Power BI etc), to support decision making is required. At least one year of experience in data analysis and GIS, in humanitarian field in Asia-Pacific Region, is required. Experience in database development and maintenance of GIS systems, in the areas of emergency preparedness and response, is desirable. Experience in the United Nations Common System or in international organizations similar to those in the UN Common System is desirable.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required. A first-level university degree may be accepted in lieu of two years of required experience.

Contract Duration
