Overview
The Grants Management Specialist supports the Grants and Partnership Manager in building and administering DRC Afghanistan’s portfolio of grants. The role involves grant management, proposal development, and donor engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide end to end post award management including representing DRC to donors for a portfolio of complex, multi-sectoral grants.
- Lead and coordinate regular monitoring of grant performance including through grant kick off, review and closure meetings.
- Coordinate and work closely with programs, area office and finance staff for cost extensions, no-cost extensions, budget realignments and other grant amendments.
- Proactively identify compliance risk through the portfolio and advise program and support teams on necessary actions.
- Assist in building capacity within area office, programs and support staff in report writing, donor compliance and other key topics.
- Work closely with the Partnership Specialist to ensure effective partnership management and performance on relevant sub-awards.
- Lead the coordination, compilation, and review of donor narrative reports and case studies, including submission via online portals.
- Take responsibility for donor reporting deadlines, in terms of setting internal deadlines, providing clear guidance to relevant colleagues, and following-up on inputs.
- Facilitate review of reports by DRC’s headquarters as per internal procedures, incorporate feedback received, and address questions and comments.
- Contribute to strengthening DRC’s report writing processes and capacities.
- Lead proposal development for specific opportunities as assigned.
- Contribute to the writing and/or compiling of proposals and concept notes.
- Review proposals and concept notes for consistency, compliance, language, and overall high quality.
- Support the GPM to lead project design meetings and prepare proposal templates.
- Assist the GPM in maintaining up to date information on donor priorities and funding opportunities.
- Support the GPM in reviewing donor contracts.
Required Experience
At least 4 years of technical work experience in business development, reporting, or grants management in an NGO. Experience managing proposal development and proposal writing processes for large institutional donors, including the UN and EU. Experience working with development banks is highly regarded. Experience with portfolio management and inter-departmental coordination. Experience in leading donor reporting processes. Ability to analyse budgets for compliance with donor budget guidelines.
Qualifications
University degree in organizational development, international relations, business administration, education, humanitarian affairs, public and social policy or related field(s).
