Overview
Provide support in implementing project activities related to community mobilization and pertinent activities for international protection applicants. Facilitate communication and interpretation between service providers and International Protection Applicants.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate communication and interpretation between service providers and International Protection Applicants, ensuring neutrality, accuracy, impartiality, and confidentiality.
- Support beneficiaries in understanding administrative procedures and completing required forms related to the international protection process.
- Provide interpretation and cultural mediation support to IOM staff and partner service providers in assigned locations to enhance service delivery.
- Assist in the identification of individuals with vulnerabilities or protection concerns and support referral to appropriate services.
- Support psychosocial support activities, focus group discussions, and community engagement initiatives implemented by IOM or partners.
- Contribute to data collection processes, case identification, and referral documentation through interpretation and cultural mediation support.
- Maintain basic documentation, activity records, and summary statistics related to project implementation and support reporting requirements.
- Undertake mobility across assigned sites as required and perform other duties as delegated by the supervisor.
Required Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in cultural mediation within migrant or refugee support contexts. Experience with NGOs, international organisations, EU agencies, or government services is an advantage. Completion of trainings in cultural mediation for mental health settings, and competence in the MHPSS specialized vocabulary would be an asset. Experience in cultural mediation in the framework of migrants’ assistance. Previous experience with international organizations, NGOs, EU Agencies and/or Irish law enforcements or Government’s Departments would be an asset.
