Overview
Provide technical support and mainstream disability inclusion across UNRWA programmes and operations. This role involves supporting the implementation of disability policies, developing guidance, and coordinating with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Support implementation of UNRWA's Disability Policy and Disability Inclusion Guidelines.
- Assist in reviewing, developing and updating technical guidance, standard operating procedures, checklists, operational tools and other implementation resources.
- Provide technical inputs to programme design, policy documents, concept notes, and project proposals.
- Support integration of disability inclusion across education, health, protection, relief and social services, infrastructure, emergency response, and other programme areas.
- Support the technical review of programme documents to ensure disability inclusion standards are appropriately reflected.
- Support the design and implementation of targeted protection initiatives addressing the specific risks faced by Palestine refugees with disabilities.
- Assist in developing guidance on disability-inclusive case management, referrals, community-based protection, accessibility, and reasonable accommodation.
- Contribute to the integration of disability considerations within broader protection programming and cross-cutting protection initiatives.
- Support monitoring of disability inclusion commitments across UNRWA programmes and operations.
- Assist in compiling, validating, and analysing disability-disaggregated data.
- Contribute to organizational reporting against UNDIS and other institutional commitments.
- Support the preparation of analytical reports, dashboards, briefing notes, donor updates, and management reports.
- Support the coordination of disability inclusion activities across Headquarters departments and Field Offices.
- Assist in organizing meetings of disability coordination mechanisms, technical working groups, and task forces.
- Support coordination with field focal points to monitor implementation of agreed priorities.
- Support engagement with United Nations entities, donors, Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), NGOs, academic institutions, and other external partners.
- Support research on emerging disability inclusion practices and humanitarian guidance.
- Assist with the preparation of policy briefs, case studies, and other knowledge products.
- Support documentation of good practices and lessons learned and maintain an organized repository of disability inclusion resources, tools, and reference materials.
- Support the development and delivery of training materials, presentations, workshops, and other capacity-building initiatives.
- Support planning and tracking of annual workplans and implementation priorities.
- Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, and follow-up actions.
- Support scheduling, correspondence, and coordination of meetings.
- Maintain organized electronic filing systems and documentation.
- Undertake other assignments as requested by the Senir Disability Advisor.
Required Experience
- Six years of progressively responsible professional experience in humanitarian action, international development, protection and disability inclusion
- Demonstrated experience supporting disability-inclusive programming.
- Experience working with UN agencies, international organizations, or NGOs is highly desirable.
- Experience in project coordination and technical reporting.
- Experience developing guidance documents, training materials, and knowledge products.
Experience working with organizations of persons with disabilities is an asset
Qualifications
Advanced university degree in Disability Studies, International Development, Human Rights, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Rehabilitation, Education, Public Health, or another relevant field.
